Sensitivity to Stress

Stress is a ubiquitous companion in our modern lives. Every day we face various challenges and pressures that can affect our minds and bodies. Now more than ever, scientific studies are beginning to highlight an important yet untalked-about truth: Stress has a direct impact on the health of the female reproductive system.

Primarily speaking, stress is known to affect hormonal balance. The hormonal system is a delicate mechanism that controls many processes in the reproductive system.

Cortisol, a stress hormone, can negatively affect the production of hormones such as estrogen and progesterone – the key ingredients in the hormonal magic cocktail of female health, fertility and vitality.

This imbalance can cause irregular menstrual cycles and difficulty ovulating. Research published in Psychoneuroendocrinology shows that prolonged exposure to stressors can lead to inhibition of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian system, affecting the normal function of our ovaries.

When our ovaries are thrown off balance, this can lead to difficulty with conceiving and irregular menstrual cycles.

Staggering Statistics

  • 15% of women in the Czech Republic have issues getting pregnant; that’s about one in six couples.
  • 1 in 10 women develop PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), one of the most common causes of infertility.
  • An estimated 70 to 80 percent of women will develop fibroids in their lifetime.

Put bluntly – womb health is deteriorating in our modern world.

We are losing connection with ourselves.

When our body is in “stress mode” it is unable to connect with itself.

Without that connection, we are then unable to truly see ~ to know what we need to do to improve our condition and to make a sustainable positive change in our lives.

Finding Your Way Back from Stress (A Simple Yet Powerful Tool!)

If you know me at all, you already know that I love practices that reconnect you to your body. Practices that are simple, quick, effective, require no special training and can be done wherever you are.

Want to know the single best “tool” for guiding the body back from stressful situations?

Sound.

“When I sing or make any sound, I heal.”

Singing or making any kind of sound can be one of the most effective tools for gracefully combating stress.

When we create vibrations in our throat by singing, humming, sighing, or toning, we stimulate the vagus nerve – transmitting millions of signals between our brain, digestive system, and other organs.

When you sound, you’re really choosing vibrations that resonate in the vagus nerve to activate your parasympathetic nervous system (PNS), soothing the body into a calmer & more natural state.
